As part of the required CSD coursework, undergraduate students must take CSD 451: An Introduction to Augmentative and Alternative Communication. In this class, the students participate in “labs” in which they get a number of hands-on experiences with technology, including AAC apps. After spending the last two weeks discussing cases and reading research related to systems for beginning communicators, the students had an opportunity to apply this knowledge by learning to program two Visual Scene display applications!
Check out some great action shots from their first lab experience last week!
Next up, learning about grid displays and semantic-syntactic communicators!
