AbstractThis poster considers the importance of the family in AAC services and discusses family systems theory as a potential theoretical framework to guide research and service delivery in AAC. It further proposes a theoretical model of how AAC impacts families and considers the clinical implications of using the proposed framework.

Discussion included identifying existing tools and assessments that can be used to provide family-centered services consistent within this model.
