Doctoral students at PSU have a variety of opportunities to develop competencies in research methods, personnel preparation, policy and professional issues in SLP, research and evidence-based practices for high need children who require AAC, leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Achievement of the outcomes of the proposed OAR grant-funded study will provide new and needed evidence of intervention programs for teaching language and communication to the most severely affected subset of children with ASD, those who require AAC to meet their daily communication needs.

In this study, we sought to lend insight into design of AAC relative to Visual Scene Displays (VSDs) and the influence of human figures embedded into a photograph of a naturalistic event.
