Intervention is needed to support peer interactions for young children who use AAC, so they can increase quality of life and realize the benefits of social relationships. Dr. Therrien’s work advances understanding about effective instruction and multimodal means that build opportunities for children with CCN and peers to interact.

This poster session reviewed the results of an investigation into the effects of a social interaction intervention which featured provision of AAC through an iPad application and a short training in sharing.

Congratulations, Dr. Finke: OAR Grant Awarded!
Achievement of the outcomes of the proposed OAR grant-funded study will provide new and needed evidence of intervention programs for teaching language and communication to the most severely affected subset of children with ASD, those who require AAC to meet their daily communication needs.
