Congratulations to Christine Holyfield, who successfully defended her dissertation, Effect of an AAC App-based Video Training on the Peers’ Accuracy in Identifying Communicative Behaviors in Presymbolic Middle Schoolers with Multiple Disabilities, on June 7, 2017.
Using a pretest-posttest control group design, Christine’s work provides clear evidence ((F=78.907, p < .001) that peers can be taught to consistently recognize the early communication behaviors of children with complex communication needs. We look forward to seeing Christine’s contributions to the AAC field as she begins a faculty position in the Department of Communication Disorders at the University of Arkansas in fall, 2017.
