Master’s student Ethan Richtsmeier gave the PSU AAC Community a preview of the ASHA 2016 poster session he will present on November 19th. Since 2015, Ethan has been part of the research and development teams involving emerging technologies with Dr. Janice Light. Recent advances in the field of Augmented Reality (AR) present a new opportunity for AAC systems that are more contextually integrated, relevant and cognitively salient. This presentation focuses on both these systems and human factors models that can be used to assess these devices.
Learner Outcome 1: Identify potential Applications for Augmented Reality (AR)
Learner Outcome 2: Apply the human factors model to case study profiles of individuals with complex communication needs/AAC users
Learner Outcome 3: Discuss the implications of access to new technologies
