Our thanks to Rob Rummel-Hudson for his incredible visit!

The AAC community at Penn State was honored to share a discussion with Rob Rummel-Hudson, dad to Schuyler.   Rob visited the  seminar on “Working effectively with individuals who require AAC and their families.”   He has written extensively about his experiences as a father in his book, Schuyler’s Monster: A Father’s Journey with His Wordless Daughter, and also in his blog “Fighting Monsters with Rubber Swords”.
We are deeply grateful for Rob’s insights and expertise as a parent.
“It was a fantastic session. One of those times I left a talk ready to take on the world,”  commented Doctoral scholar, Vanessa Smith.   She continued, “He’s not afraid to comment on the complexity of his life and his relationship with Schuyler…It makes what can sometimes be a very intimidating job seem approachable and at the same time all the more important.”
Master’s student, Carly Millan, echoed these ideas:  “”Reading about his experiences was one thing, but actually getting to talk to him and hearing how his daughter Schuyler is doing now was amazing…Yes, there will be stressful days ahead, but now I can look back on this morning’s talk and remember why I am doing what I’m doing.”
