Special congratulations to Dr. Elizabeth Serpentine who graduated on May 6, 2012 (pictured alongside Dr. Kathryn Drager). Dr. Serpentine was a doctoral student in Communication Sciences and Disorders and part of the PSU AAC community. Her research focused on children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), including those who require AAC.
While at Penn State, Liz completed projects investigating the perspectives of parents of children with ASD and the professionals that work with children with ASD, including how decisions are made regarding communication interventions. She has also investigated the applications of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and interventions to enhance social functioning of adolescents with Asperger Syndrome.
