In October 2011, the Penn State AAC community welcomed Amber Thiessen, a doctoral student from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, an AAC-RERC partner. Amber is studying with Dr. David Beukelman and has a specific interest in improving outcomes for individuals with aphasia. During her visit, Amber learned about the eyetracking research currently being conducted by members of the Penn State AAC group. She is now applying these methods to investigate ways to improve the design of AAC systems for adults with aphasia.
