Visual attention during search for a target on an AAC Display (O’Neill et al., 2018)

O’Neill, T., Wilkinson, K., & Light, J. (2018, November). Visual attention during search for a target navigation icon on an AAC Display. Poster at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Conference, Boston, MA.

O’Neill et al. (2018) Handout (pdf)

Abstract: Individuals with developmental disabilities were presented with AAC displays containing a visual scene display and a navigation bar. A spoken sentence cued participants to find a target navigation icon within the bar. Visual attention during search was recorded through automated eye tracking technology. Increases in the likelihood and duration of fixation to the target icon suggested comprehension of the cue.
