PSU doctoral scholar Kelsey Mandak is a 2017-2018 recipient of the Kligman Fellowship Award from the College of Health and Human Development!
During her doctoral studies at Penn State, Kelsey has established a vibrant line of research to investigate family-centered services for children with the most complex communication needs. Specifically, Kelsey’s doctoral dissertation will investigate the effects of preservice training of speech language pathologists on their delivery of family-centered services, especially their use of relational /active listening skills in interactions with parents of children with complex communication needs.
Kelsey presented some of her foundational work in these areas, “The perceptions of school-based SLPs on providing family-centered services to children with CCN,” at ASHA 2016.
