Abstract:

This poster presented a summary of the literature on the development of play, communication, and language in beginning communicators who are typically developing.  It will also describe the myriad challenges faced by children with complex communication needs who may require AAC, and delineate implications for intervention through evidence-based practices.

Learner Outcome 1: Described play stages in typical development

Learner Outcome 2: Discussed challenges experienced by children with CCN

Learner Outcome 3:  Described evidence-based interventions to promote play, language, and communication with beginning communicators who use AAC
