This grant responds to the nationwide, critical shortage of Ph.D. faculty who are prepared to conduct research and preservice training of speech language pathologists (SLPs) to improve services and results for high need children with complex communication needs.

This session focused on the design of aided AAC systems specifically for young children and beginning communicators. The use of visual scene displays (VSDs) with young children and with older individuals who are beginning communicators was presented.
