SLPs have specialized knowledge that can be used to provide the help and adaptations for students with CCN in order to build vital language, communication, and literacy skills and support the maximization of literacy and communication outcomes.

This poster session at PSHA 2017 reviewed a study with pre-literate preschoolers diagnosed with ASD to investigate the effects of dynamically displaying text within graphics-based AAC software to support the transition from graphic symbols to increased experiences with literacy.

No single intervention will have as dramatic effect on a student’s future as a solid foundation in literacy.
